Gamepad controls

A Bluetooth game controller clipped to the tripod runs the game without touching the phone. Pair it with the phone the way any Bluetooth controller pairs. CheerCam needs nothing set up, and the same map is under Settings > Game controller in the app.

Button names are an Xbox controller’s. View is the left centre button and Menu the right one. L3 and R3 are the stick presses. The left side of the controller is the home team, as on the scoreboard.

A control that says held acts once the button has been held that long. A ring fills on screen while you hold, and letting go early cancels. Going live, stopping and recording take a long hold so they cannot happen by accident.

Control Does
Right trigger Clock start / stop
Left trigger Shot clock reset
LB / RB Home / away: a shot where the sport counts shots, otherwise a score
LB / RB held 0.6 s A goal where a press is a shot
D-pad down + LB / RB Take one back
D-pad up + LB / RB Penalty, or foul, for that side
D-pad right + LB / RB That side’s more actions
L3 The clock’s more actions
Y Clip the last seconds
D-pad right + Y Play the latest clip in the corner
D-pad up + Y Play the latest clip full frame
D-pad left + Y Pick a clip to play
R3 Clear the screen: lower third off, replay stopped
View Scenes
View held 1.5 s Record start / stop
D-pad right + A Next camera
D-pad left + A Back to the main camera
X Scoreboard
Menu Settings
Menu held 1.5 s Go live / stop live
B Close what is open
Control Does
Left stick Nudge the clock (up / down) and the shot clock (left / right)
Right stick up / down Zoom
In a menu, fan or picker D-pad moves, A picks, B closes or skips

Leaving the camera screen, focus and exposure, and putting a lower third on air stay touch only. Leaving ends the stream and the recording with no undo, so it is never on a button.
